Fashion Icon Soup

What do you get when you put the Olsen twins, Kate Moss, and Rachel Zoe's style and put it into a big pot with a sprinkle of Victoria "Posh" Beckham? Me! That's absolutely right. Of course I will always admire the people like Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O, and Liz Taylor for their classic, timeless style. For everyday wear it's "all of the above."
I have been wondering exactly what is my style? Not just what, but who is my style also. I'm not trying to be a copycat, it's just everyone needs someone to look up to as their fashion people also. Just like you're 5 yr. old little brother or son may look up to Superman because he's the greatest man to ever walk on earth to them. Well, just like that, I think people also need to look up to certain people for their fashion needs and inspiration. And my people happen to be "all of the above."  Like I said, I have been searching for some fashion people to look up to -in the meaning of day-to-day wear- and I never knew what it was so it was like I was "clueless" about what to wear in a way. I know I sound like some person who doesn't have her own sense of style, but I do. That's why it's a mixture of those people. I also would add a little spice of my "exact" own style if you want to put it that way, but they are my style..In a way.
I love all of their styles. The Olsens, you might think that they have the same style, but they don't. Look closely and you will notice how Ashley Olsen has a more conservative style. She also uses more whites and blacks with one piece of colour for that 'pop.' Then there is Kate Moss' style, can't put my finger on what to call it but it's lovely. I added that spice or sprinkle of Victoria "Posh" Beckham in there because she has this polished clean look for when she is sometimes seen about town. Bright colours and all. I guess you could say that it is sort of preppy, but at certain times. Oh, let's not forget Rachel Zoe's style; it's very vintage and original LA style which I love. I love her style. When I was watching The Rachel Zoe Project on BravoTV, I immensely fell in love with her clothes and the way she dress. And her big chunky gold gold gold everywhere jewelry is something I would adapt into my own style and carry it over when dressing "like" mary Kate or Ashley Olsen. They are not always wearing the biggest, chunkiest of the gold jewelry, but I would. You know why? Because I am still an independent person with my own style. Ha!
I love fashion. And I love being me. I also love their (the names I listed above) style. I think everyone should look up to someone fashion wise but still keep our own creativeness and fashion individuality. And you can even if you look up to someone in the fashion world for your fashion needs. Just pick someone who you admire from a fashion point-of-view and admire them and look to them as a guide. But still keep intact your own creativity and individuality. Just wondering, is there someone you admire in the fashion world, casual or event wise?

I Die Polyvore

So I was just surfing through the web on how to dress like Mary Kate -long story- and I came across this wonderful website called Polyvore. I don't know how I have never heard of this before, and I don't know how I have survived before Polyvore, but it it awesome! I am not quite sure that it was made for fashion people in mind, or just to make online collages; but it can trick you into thinking it had people like me in mind. Well, most people do use it to make stuff about fashion.
They have these things called "sets" that you can drag-n-drop to make collages. They have a sidebar on the website that already has a lot of clothes on there; but if that's not enough, you can "import" other clothes/accessories etc. onto the website using the "clipper." The stuff that you import goes under the 'My Items' tab. The tabs are located on the sidebar thing and that is where it also has the 'All Items' tab. Under that tab is all the other stuff people have imported, and you can use all of that stuff as well. You can narrow your searches by colour, types, dresses, jeans, and so forth.
You can also browse through other people's sets. You can chose whether you like it or now, as well as buy the stuff, or use the stuff for your own set. How I actually found out about the place was when I was looking for Mary Kate and Rachel Zoe (yes, I'm still obsessed with her) inspired outfits.
It's really a great and fun place. I have only had an account for maybe two hours, but I am already addicted. It brings everyone's fashion sense forward. You can do a lot of stuff with Polyvore. I have seen some collages that are more than just for fashion. One that I saw was a collage of McCain and Pallin, and another was for some beach-y place. I am making a collage myself, and then I think I am going to go to bed. I was eating, so then I just decided why not?
It's really focused on Rachel Zoe's amazing style, though it doesn't have a Rachel Zoe pic on there. Well, I will get back to trying to make it look great; and while I'm at that, go check out Polyvore!

Ms. Rachel Zoe

photo courtesy of style.com more Rachel Zoe pictures at style.com here
I don't know if you have lately heard about Rachel Zoe's new show on BravoTv, The Rachel Zoe Project, but I have. And I am a huge fan, as well as being a fan of Rachel Zoe. But immediately upon googling her name, I read nothing but negative stuff. I don't even have to Google anything negative, it just comes up with her name. And let me say, it makes me mad! Ms. Zoe does have an amazing sense of style, that's why she is the top stylist out there. I think one main reason people are attacking her is because they envy her, as well as just don't understand fashion. Next time when thinking about criticizing this amazing talent, ask yourself why you don't have her job. Ms. Zoe's style is amazing! She's exactly who I think of when I would want to describe my sense of style.
Also, for those people who are complaining about her charging as much as she does, have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, she does have to buy clothes with that money. Designer clothing, and vintage, that costs a lot of money. In case you haven't realized, clothes do cost money. So it's not like she just collects the money like she collects her "Birks."
I just wanted to express my opinions about how I feel about this gossip about her; and how I feel about her and her style. I have a lot more on my mind, but I don't want to just throw them all in one post to overwhelm you. I am very opinionated, so expect to hear more from me about this topic. I love Rachel Zoe, her style, her show, and when I buy her book, I will love that too.
